ALTA Sauvignon Blanc

Colour: Very pale lemon yellow.

Scents: Passionfruit and peach.

Taste: Zesty and very fresh, this young Sauv Blanc has a hint of sweetness that makes it incredibly drinkable. Hints of lemongrass and melon.

ABV: 13%

Thoughts: Grown in Stirling, located in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, this tasty white clearly comes from a high altitude area – as would be expected for a Sauvignon Blanc. The wine maker, Alta Vineyards, states that they selected several grapes from slopes throughout the Adelaide Hills region in order to come up with the blend and this definitely comes through in the wine – it has a large, varied palate. The wine could perhaps use another year to age, but would be a perfect accompaniment right now with a spicy thai dish or fresh seafood.

Overall rating: 2.5/5
